Fishing

Making a pond in The Low Country is easy. All you do is dig a hole, and it will fill with water. Hundreds of farm ponds dot the Hemingway countryside, providing water for cattle, for irrigation, swimming, and....somewhere in one of these lurks a bass you could saddle and ride!

The rivers -- Black River, Pee Dee, Mingo, Waccamaw and others of the area, are well supplied with boat landings. This one at Snow's Lake, accesses the Pee Dee. Shad, catfish, bass and bream are plentiful, and it's a great swimming hole too. Snow's Island, the Revolutionary War hideout camp of Francis Marion can be seen across the channel.
